Hey there! My gamejam partner and I are also using this theme in our game entry, which is (maybe unimaginatively) called Dead City.
I will definitely check your game out!
And also if you like the pack get excited b/c after the jam it’s gonna receive a major FREE update w/ a great deal of the unique assets I made for the jam entry.
This pack currently overlooks a few things that should be there and has some “bugs” in the art that will also be fixed. In other words, roads and roof tiles are the least of the new content that will (finally, sorry!) be added to the pack.
It’s a screenshot of the town map (overworld) of our game. This was WIP cap but the map’s finished now and mostly looks the same. You can probably see a lot of elements there that aren’t currently in the pack but most of it will be!
Haha now I hate to say it but that’s the ONE thing we didn’t do much with for reasons that’ll make sense when you try the game. That said, I actually have quite a few designs for NPCs in the theme that no one’s seen yet so that’ll be coming along eventually!
Yes! I could do a better job of showing it but ALL of my character sprites are 4 directions. Occasionally I will use a flip for the left/right but I usually try to respect my own asymmetric character designs haha.
I think, for now, the character sprites in this pack are flips. I will eventually change that in an update.
Animating even my relatively simple sprites is a huge undertaking. It may come down to flaws in my work flow or something, but I’ve never been able to think up a way to do it at scale. I have over 200 unique character sprites across my various packs for itch (released and unreleased).
So the main question for me is always “which sprites get the animations?” Do I use a “heroes only” approach where only a handful of my sprites get the full suite of animations? Do I use a blank template sprite w/ all the animations included and just leave my customers to do the editing themselves? Will people actually buy that or is it a non-starter to force users to edit sprites?
Any thoughts you might have about this could be helpful.

Love the pack. I used it in The Walking Drunk for the RPG Maker Game Jam. Would love for you to check it out!

Oh hell yes, can't wait to play your game and check out the updated pack!
That’s so nice and very encouraging to hear!
A little preview, just for you:

oh man, I love this. If there are more civilian NPCs I may just have to use the expanded version for my next game.

Are the zombies also four directions?

Left/right flip is also totally fine for me, thank you!!
Love this! Definitely will buy if you ever add player shooting animations w/ guns.
Thanks!

Love it! Look forward to those demos and mockups! And also to what people will end up doing with this!
Thanks! Since horror is so popular w/ RPG Maker devs, I hope this gives someone some ideas!
