Street Characters Portrait Pack 3
A downloadable asset pack
Retro Cybercity Portrait Pack 3
This is a series of portraits for character sprites in the Street Characters Pack, focused on the additional character designs from that pack, including more of the "civilian" NPCs, including kids, elders, etc. These faces include several "emoting" variants each as well as "talk" and "blink" variants for simple animations.
This asset pack is for creators who are looking to try a cyberpunk or futuristic scifi aesthetic that takes cues from the analog era of the 1980s and 90s. Think Blade Runner or Ready Player One with an SNES/SEGA Genesis style color palette.
The pack uses the palette BLKNX64 by @blkirl.
SPECIAL NOTE:
The RPG Maker folder in the pack includes a version of these portraits formatted and scaled to work with RPG Maker MZ which uses a portrait cell size of 144x144. The native size for these assets is 48x48 and these can be resized at 2x to be used with RPG Makers that IIRC used 96x96.
Housekeeping Notes:
Unless otherwise indicated, all materials are offered in PNG format.
I DO NOT use AI for any part of my creative process -- all of my work is hand-made in Aseprite.
What Does It Include?
The first two images in the sidebar give a solid idea of the talk animations, base portraits, and some of the variants included. If you're looking for something specific that you don't see here, feel free to ask about it in the comments.
This pack include:
- 12 Characters represented from the Street Characters Sprite pack. The sidebar includes images of all 12 across different variants to give you an idea as well as an example of the "talk" animation.
- 2 Size Options by default: Native 48x48 cells and RPG Maker MZ compatible 144x144 cells arranged in 2x8 sheets.
- Each character has 1 full sheet of 8 variant portraits and a second half sheet of 2-4 additional variants. Kids and the elderly are lacking "flirt" and "hurt" expressions. These could be added by special request if need be but for now I decided to leave these variants out for those characters.
- A handy guide for what I tried to pull off with each variant in terms of what emotion is being conveyed.
- Ability to take the blinking and talking and create simple animations if your game or project has a need for that.
IT DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- 16x16 full body character sprites -- different pack for those!
- Portraits from the other portrait packs, they are only shown on the sidebar as examples.
Why Not Include ALL the "Street Characters"?
In case you're wondering why this is only 12 out of the nearly 30, it's because pricing such a huge portrait pack would make it too expensive for many users to grab in one shot. The reason this is the same price as the packs with 10 characters is because there are fewer variants overall in this pack.
I will also be offering bundle discounts for purchasing multiple portrait packs at once, for those who wish to get it all.
Will There be Updates?
I'll probably be including additional portrait variants in the empty cells included here. I'm sure I'll eventually think of more variants that make sense to add but I tried my best to cover my bases here.
I am also looking forward to requests from users who may need more options than are represented here. Please sound off in the comments if you've got suggestions!

This is GREAT! Sorry, I missed it, you got it out super fast wow! Will send a little extra as promised thank you SO MUCH! Amazing work.
If you're taking requests things I would love:
If you were to make multiple views of things that only have one view angle it would be cool
If you made some more props or accessories for people that would be rad! If you made items to play into cybernetics, changing body parts, etc. theme that would be awesome.
Any space themed stuff for the high rider cyberpunks would be super cool also lol!
Hey! Thank you so much!
For the multiple viewing angles thing, do you mean props in tileset packs? Reason I ask is I’m not currently planning on doing different angles for the portraits. I decided on the “face forward” style after some experimentation and it was consistently the way that gave best results.
But if you mean props and such, do you have specific ones in mind?
As for cybernetic stuff… again, do you mean for the portraits? A few do have visible modifications on their faces. If you mean more generally like tilesets and props, the Vendors pack does have props, tiles, and a few bonus NPCs specifically for “cyberdoc” style needs. I would like to do more with this in the future. Early on, I wasn’t sure how heavy to lean into cyborg stuff but it became a big part of the Gangs pack where more characters are cyborgs and stuff. The portraits for those guys will be interesting!
Lastly, I’m not sure what you mean by “high rider”… do you mean one of the gangs? I’m not sure if I’ll add space content for Retro Cybercity although I’d say that to the extent I’m trying to represent a coherent universe (which my customers are free to ignore), there IS space development in the background. I do have a theme I’m planning that is heavily inspired by 80s space movies, Starfield, etc which will be called Offworld Colonies. That is down the road a ways but might be more what you’re looking for?
The very next big release I’m doing is a new theme as well. Hint: zombies.
Sounds freakin' dope! I'm going to send you an email using the address on your profile with proper requests/comments/replies.
Cool. I’ll watch for that!
Half a year later, I’m still waiting for cyberpunk outdoor architecture T_T
I think I mentioned before that the previously released Street Exterior Pack should have what you need. But maybe I’m not sure what you exactly mean by “outdoor architecture”. If you give me a bit of a description, detailed as possible, I can see about making sure you’re not waiting much longer.
Such as coffee shops, weapon shops, clothing stores, supermarkets, discos, schools, etc.
I get some of that but it seems you may want packs that are specific to some of these kinds of locations when really the better way for me to go as an artist is to provide assets that can be used for these kinds of environments within larger, more general packs. I believe I’ve done that for half your list: weapon shop, disco, supermarket, at the very least are easy to make if you have the Vendors Pack and Interior Pack (the first tileset I ever released haha).
A school is an interesting idea I hadn’t considered and I can see how there could be more props that help with places like clothing stores or coffee shops as there aren’t necessarily props (yet) that evoke some of that.
So maybe what would help you most is if I added a range of new assets to the Vendors pack or some other pack that reflect more of what you’re talking about: school desks, clothing store racks, coffee shop stuff, etc. These specific ideas are very useful and very easy to add to an existing pack because a lot of it isn’t really enough to make a whole pack around. Got no problem adding some extra stuff, I just don’t prioritize it since I tend to move around my projects a lot and I don’t usually get specific requests.
If you have a list of PROPS as opposed to whole packs in mind, let’s hear it. I can always use some indication of what people would like to see added and like I said, got no problem adding some extra stuff to packs you’ve probably already purchased!
