Good looking assets. The screens really convey the game's concept.

Thanks! I somehow missed this comment!

Was hoping this was an art pack when I looked at it. If you sell it like that, I would be interested in buying this and future packs ala Time Fantasy.  Looks like a nice game but I think the big money on Itch.io is through art sales. I'd like the art to work on an offline card game.

I do sell art on itch but this was more intensive than the assets I sell. I appreciate the interest and will keep your comment in mind.

Yeah I had a look at them, if you release this pack, I'll probably pick the rest up too. They're very well done.

Really appreciate the compliment and, of course, your interest in seeing more of this Bathysphere theme.

Lemme ask you something about that. What would you want to see in a pack in this theme or a similar one?

The reason I ask, and one of the reasons I’m reluctant to say I’ll do a pack out of this, is that there doesn’t seem to be enough here to me. What is here is also kind of specific to a fully-fledged game concept where I’d think people would want generic assets, particularly character models and the like. There are a few item icons and a handful of tiles and props as starting points for those kinds of packs, but I’d probably be looking at a lot of hours to round that stuff out and make viable, satisfying asset packs out of them.

I guess a follow-up question might be, are you more interested in the general art style or the specific theme/setting?

Hi there,

If I were to use these graphics, I would use them in Comic Life 3 to create short role-playing games and comics for my ESL students. As someone who loves XCOM: TFTD, I think these graphics would be perfect for anything in that vein. I have noticed that there is almost no alien-esque graphics on itch.io, but there are quite a few shooter side scrolling graphics available. I was hoping to find something specifically for "aliens" and UFOs, like "The Abyss" or some kind of sea monster theme with an aliens twist. Although I have all of the Time Fantasy and Horror City series, they don't quite have what I'm looking for, I feel that the fantasy / zombie genre has been overdone in sprites, and there isn't enough of the Subnautica/Seaquest theme  out there. I would  like to see more of that, and these graphics could help me create the kind of content I have in mind. The underwater mecha/small fighter/shuttle subs would be a great addition and original. Also some big muscly marines and naval officers.

Thanks for asking.

If you haven't played through Terror From The Deep, I can't recommend it enough, especially for this theme.

Hi. Thanks for the info. I used to be a teacher myself so I understand what it’s like to try and hunt down useful material. Have you thought about commissioning an artist to make these specific things for you? That would be more expensive than lucking out w/ a combination of asset packs, but since your requirements are specific it might be the best idea for you. I don’t do commissions very often but we can talk if that’s a route you’re interested in.

To recap, it sounds like what you’d like to see is some kind of militaristic aquatic-themed art specifically. I’ve seen The Abyss and am a huge fan of Subnautica so I think I understand the aesthetic ideas you’re into. Bathysphere was what I’ve been calling “submarine-punk” or “aqua-punk” and is maybe a bit on the fantasy/history side for you.

What do you think about the style I use for my other assets for the purposes of creating something that is maybe a bit more “space marines” (but useable for underwater-set scifi stuff too)? I have been looking to introduce a third theme to my store. I have been tinkering with a Fallout and Kenshi inspired post-apocalyptic theme but maybe something more space opera (Doom, Aliens, Star Wars, 40K, etc + the inspirations you mentioned)? It seems like science fiction is underserved w/ pixel art with there not being even that many Cyberpunk themed packs like mine.

I’ll take a look at Terror from the Deep. I appreciate your feedback and interest and hope to continue this conversation since it’s feedback like this that helps me decide what to do next!
